Lesley Beale- M.E.Des. Arch, LEED AP

Lesley joined Sturgess Architecture in 1992, and became a Partner in 1993. Since that time, Lesley has developed as an articulate, creative and passionate urban designer. Her success in working with community and corporate groups to achieve consensus is widely recognized, as is her ability to marry the sensitivity of a street oriented new urbanism philosophy with contemporary architecture, resulting in an urban residential typology appropriate to its time and place. 

Lesley has made an ongoing commitment to education of the profession through the founding and operation of the Calgary Architectural and Urban Studies Alliance (CAUSA) which has gone on to inspire other design focused lecture series in Calgary.  Lesley has managed many of Sturgess Architecture’s projects, including the Water Centre, the 7th Avenue LRT Transit Corridor Renewal, the Bridges Master Plan and most recently as Project Lead on the Green Line, responsible for Station and Urban Design of the Green Line Southeast. This project’s integrated team approach has served to comprehensively address all aspects of the project from urban and station design to public engagement and the technical aspects of a complex transit project.  Most recently, Lesley has retired from the office environment to peruse her own personal research.

Jeremy Sturgess- B. Arch, Architect AAA, AIBC, FRAIC, RCA

With over 40 years’ experience as an architect, Jeremy Sturgess has contributed to Canadian architecture at a variety of levels. He is known for his ability to create urban design Master Plans and buildings responsible to an urban design vision, and has been recognized locally, nationally and internationally for his work, which includes distinctive houses, housing at all scales, and civic and commercial buildings that consistently contribute to their environment.

In 1997, Jeremy Sturgess was appointed to the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts in recognition of his consistent collaboration with artists in architectural projects, and in particular for the artistic quality of his architecture. In 2012 he was awarded the Queen’s Jubilee Medal in 2012, recognizing his contribution to art and architecture in Canada. He is a Fellow of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada. 

While still operating as a consultant for the office he is currently on sabbatical conducting his own personal research.
